Figma has introduced code layers as a new canvas feature, letting teams clone repositories and extract code-to-design flows for testing directly in the design environment. The update also adds native support for animations, transitions, and 3D transforms, allowing motion to be designed and tested inside Figma without exporting to external tools. In addition, AI-powered assets, shader effects, and AI-generated fills are now part of the design-to-code pipeline, all accessible via prompts. The company also expanded its AI assistant with repeatable skills and opened integration hooks to tools like Notion, Granola, Excel, and GitHub to streamline cross-tool workflows. A plugin-builder feature lets teams create custom prompts to generate plugins such as layout generators or vector path tracers. Weavy integration is being phased in to support multi-model design workflows, with deeper integration planned for future updates.
