Overview
BeyondConf 2026 is a one-day, in-person working conference for leaders, technologists, and practitioners focused on practical artificial intelligence rather than speculation or promotional demonstrations. The event emphasizes lessons from people who have launched, scaled, stopped, or improved real AI initiatives. Its stated goal is to give attendees useful ideas and patterns they can apply in their own work. The program features 25 industry practitioners and leaders, with 23 talks, panels, and workshops. Attendance is capped at 250, and the site describes the format as focused and designed to leave room for conversations among participants.
Date, venue, and format
The conference takes place on November 5, 2026, at The Department at Hudson’s Detroit, 1000 Nick Gilbert Way, Detroit, Michigan 48226. The venue is a purpose-built downtown event space described as spanning 75,000 square feet across three floors, with skyline views and hotels within walking distance. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.; the working program runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by an evening reception. Every ticket includes access to all four tracks, and attendees may move between them. Sessions are described as 45 minutes long. The event is promoted as an in-person experience, with no recordings promised in the ticket section; the FAQ separately notes that selected sessions may be recorded if speakers opt in.
Tracks and themes
The four tracks address different interests and levels of experience:
- Ethics & Sustainability: bias and fairness in deployment, environmental costs of inference, AI’s labor impact, responsibility, and internal policies.
- How It Works: technical foundations including tokenizers, context windows, attention, embeddings, and evaluation.
- From Experience: production practice, agentic systems, scaled retrieval-augmented generation, project retrospectives, and post-launch iteration.
- Looking Forward: agent execution, reasoning models, multimodal workflows, and possible developments through 2027.
Sessions listed on the site include talks on agentic systems in practice, decomposing tasks for language models, AI-assisted coding, agent reliability testing, enterprise AI outcomes, and the carbon cost of running agents. Confirmed speakers include Abhilash Rao Mesala, Almog Mor, Andy Chen, Bodhisattva Das, Chris Moyer, Dave Todaro, Heather Lenz, Katelyn Jones, Madhavi Pasumarthi, Sajitha Sritharan, and Travis Frisinger, among others. The lineup is presented as subject to updates.
Schedule
The day begins with breakfast, check-in, badge pickup, and networking at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome and kickoff at 9 a.m. Morning track sessions start at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Afternoon sessions begin at 1:30 p.m., with another set at 3:15 p.m. The evening reception starts at 6 p.m. and includes a full bar, substantial appetizers, and access to the speaker roster.
Who should attend
The conference is designed for both technical and business audiences. The technical sessions suit practitioners building or operating AI systems; the ethics and leadership topics may be particularly relevant to people working in risk, legal, compliance, and organizational decision-making. The site says sessions are intended to be accessible even when attendees explore a track outside their usual area.
