Launch guide
How launches work on AINave: when your product goes live, how the weekly ranking works, and how to make the most of launch week.
On this page
The short version
- Every approved product gets a launch automatically. There’s nothing extra to fill in.
- Launch weeks run Monday to Sunday, Pacific time.
- Monday to Wednesday, launches appear in random order with upvote counts hidden. From Thursday, they’re ranked by upvotes.
- Verified products are listed above unverified ones.
- The top 3 of every week, month and year win a badge for their website.
Each part is explained below.
How your launch starts
When your product is approved, AINave creates its first launch from your listing: the name, tagline, description and screenshots you submitted. Each launch gets its own page that people can upvote and comment on. When it goes live depends on the day it’s approved:
The guide to what gets approved is in our Product guidelines.
The launch week
Every launch in a week shares the same clock. Weeks start Monday at 12:00 AM Pacific time.
- MonHidden counts give every launch a fair start, whether it went live first thing Monday or on Wednesday afternoon.
- ThuRanking begins. Products approved from now on launch the following Monday.
- MonThe week locks. Its final ranking is frozen, ordered by upvotes, and the winners are announced.
Your listing is locked during launch week
While your launch is live, you can’t edit your product listing, so what people upvote stays the same all week. Editing opens again the next Monday.
How ranking works
- While a board is running, verified products come first, then everyone else. Verification is a one-time $5 per product.
- Within each group, the launch with more upvotes ranks higher.
- Launches with the same upvotes share a rank, and the next rank is skipped.
| Rank | Launch | Upvotes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Product A | 128 |
| 2 | Product B | 92 |
| 2 | Product C | 92 |
| 4 | Product D | 211 |
| 5 | Product E | 64 |
Product D has the most upvotes but ranks 4th, because verified launches come first. B and C tie at 2nd, so there is no 3rd. When a board locks, its final order is by upvotes alone.
Monthly and yearly boards
Every launch also competes on a monthly and a yearly board. A launch counts toward the month its launch week ends in: a week that runs Sep 28 to Oct 4 counts toward October. Months lock on the 1st and years on January 1, ordered by upvotes.
Upvotes
Anyone with an AINave account can upvote a launch, as long as:
- They’re signed in with a confirmed email. Signing in with Google counts as confirmed.
- They don’t own the product. Makers can’t upvote their own launches.
- It’s one upvote per account per launch, and every upvote counts the same.
Where an upvote counts
- The weekly board
- The monthly board
- The yearly board
- Social proof only
Upvoting never closes, so a good product keeps collecting support. Share your launch page with the people who use your product, and let them decide. Upvotes from fake accounts or vote trading may be removed.
Awards and badges
When a board locks, its top 3 launches win an award badge you can put on your website.
| Board | Locks | Minimum upvotes |
|---|---|---|
| Week | Monday, 12:00 AM PT | 5 |
| Month | The 1st of the next month | 10 |
| Year | January 1 | 25 |
Launches that tie share the award. A top 3 launch below the minimum keeps its rank but doesn’t get a badge.
Find your badges and their embed code in Dashboard › Launches › Badges.
Launching again
Shipped something big? Launch again with a new story: a new feature, a substantial improvement or a redesign. Each launch gets its own page, and all of them appear on your product’s Launches tab.
- Pick any launch week up to 8 weeks ahead, or this week if it’s still Monday to Wednesday.
- A product can have one upcoming launch at a time.
- Start one from Dashboard › Launches › New launch.
What you’ll need
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Name and tagline | Up to 80 and 120 characters |
| Description | What the product does today |
| Screenshots | 1 to 5 images |
| What changed | 80 to 2,000 characters on what’s new since your last launch |
| Video and changelog | Optional: a YouTube video and a link to your changelog |
Review
We review every scheduled launch to check it’s a meaningful update. Small text or pricing changes, or a repeat of an earlier launch, get turned down. You’ll get an email either way. If you edit a launch after it’s approved, it goes back to review.
Make the most of launch week
- 1Lead with a sharp taglineSay what it does in one line. “Drafts release notes from your merged pull requests” beats “The ultimate AI writing tool”.
- 2Show, don’t tellAdd 3 to 5 screenshots of the real product, and a short demo video if you have one.
- 3Share your launch pageLink people to your launch page, not your homepage, so their upvotes and comments land in one place.
- 4Reply to every commentEarly questions are your best feedback, and visitors read the replies.
- 5Get verifiedVerified products are listed first while boards are running, for a one-time $5.
- 6Add your badgePut the Launched on AINave badge on your site to send visitors your way and earn a followed link.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose when my first launch happens?
No. Your first launch follows your approval: this week if you’re approved Monday to Wednesday, next Monday otherwise. You can choose the week for every launch after that.
Why can’t I see my upvote count?
Counts are hidden for everyone, makers included, from Monday to Wednesday. They appear on Thursday at 12:00 AM PT, when ranking starts.
Why can’t I edit my listing?
Listings are locked while their launch is live, so the product people upvote doesn’t change mid-week. You can edit again from the next Monday.
Does verifying during launch week move my launch up?
Yes. Verified status applies as soon as you verify, on every board that hasn’t locked yet.
I finished in the top 3. Why didn’t I get an award?
Awards need a minimum number of upvotes: 5 for a week, 10 for a month and 25 for a year. Your rank still stands.
Why can’t I upvote?
You need to be signed in with a confirmed email, and you can’t upvote a product you own.
Ready to launch?
Submit your product. Once it’s approved, it launches automatically.
