Overview
design + AI is a two-day, in-person summit exploring how artificial intelligence is changing design practice, workflows, teams, and the future of the profession. Organised by Product Unleashed and curated by design leader Andy Budd, the event is intended for designers and creative professionals who want a grounded view of what AI means for their work. The programme aims to focus on practical experience, useful ideas, and honest discussion rather than hype, vendor pitches, or abstract predictions. More than 500 designers are expected to attend.
The event welcomes people across the design spectrum, including product and digital designers, creative directors, agency founders, researchers, strategists, and design leaders. Topics include how teams are using AI, where it fits into day-to-day work, how creative workflows are changing, and why human judgement and quality remain important. Sessions are intended to consider both opportunities and limitations, and what the changes mean for individual practitioners, teams, and organisations.
Dates and venue
The summit takes place 10–11 June 2027 at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, Church Street, Brighton, BN1 1UE, United Kingdom. The venue is described as a historic event space with Victorian ironwork and a sweeping arched roof. The organisers note that Brighton is approximately 60 minutes from London Victoria by train and around 30 minutes from Gatwick Airport.
Programme and format
The two days have distinct formats:
- 10 June, Workshop Day: Practical, participatory sessions led by experienced designers and product practitioners. Workshops are planned for small groups, with curated tracks for different disciplines, hands-on work with AI design tools, time to ask questions, and take-away frameworks and resources. The focus is on working through real problems and building skills. Workshop sessions will not be recorded, to support open conversation.
- 11 June, Talks Day: A stage programme featuring keynotes, project case studies, panel discussions, and short talks from emerging voices. Sessions will examine what worked in real projects, what did not, and why, as well as harder questions about AI and design. A closing drinks reception is planned after the talks. Main-stage talks will be recorded and made available to ticket holders after the event.
The named event hosts are Dominic Port and John Griffin, the team behind Product Unleashed. Andy Budd, a design leader with experience curating events including UX London and Leading Design, is the curator. Individual speakers and session titles are still to be announced on the page.
